Aussie legends play a warm-up invite-only show in Philly

It’s been seven years since AC/DC went on their last world tour to support 2001’s mediocre Stiff Upper Lip. Now, with a much better (but by no means essential) new album, AC/DC are set start a year-long tour to support Black Ice.

The “Black Ice” tour officially starts tonight (10/27) at the Wachovia Arena in Philadelphia. As a warm-up, the band opened up the arena to 5,000 contest winners and fans who waited patiently outside the venue. Early on they said this show was only going to be a partial setlist, still though, nothing rocks like an AC/DC show.

Starting off the evening with silly video of Angus and two skanks riding a train until an actual locomotive - with a giant AC/DC logo - appears on stage behind the drum kit as the band launch into Black Ice’s “Rock N Roll Train”.

Over the next 75 minutes, the band didn’t slow down at all. They busted out ten of their monster hits and only two tracks from the new album, which I want to note, did not slow the evening down and were greeted like classics by the audience.

I hears ome complaints that the show was only an hour and fifteen minutes, but it was warm-up show and seriously, it was rocking.

Check out some great pictures from the show here.

Rock N Roll Train
Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be
