After The Jump’s CMJ Showcase
By After The Jump
The blogger collective takes over the Knitting Factory October 22nd
If you don’t know about the After The Jump Fest, let me tell you. After the Jump Fest is the effort of 20 New York City music bloggers whose goal is to help new artists gain exposure while raising money for struggling school music programs.
At this year’s CMJ Music Marathon, the ATJ crew will be taking over all three floors of the Knitting Factory on Wednesday, October 22 for a massive shindig featureing A Sunny Day in Glasgow, the Muggabears, Starfucker, Unicycle Loves You, Bad Veins, Crystal Antlers, , Heloise and the Savoir Faire, Best Friends Forever, Motel Motel, Juvelen, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Inlets, Ringo Deathstarr, the Depreciation Guild, My Teenage Stride, the Lisps and The Beets.
CMJ is supposed to be about introducing people to new bands and that’s something CTJ has worked hard to stay ahead of the curve! Past After the Jumpers have included A Place To Bury Strangers, Foals, Chairlift, Pattern is Movement, Bell, Fiasco, Health, Balthrop Alabama, Cloud Cult, Jukebox the Ghost and so many more acts.
Seriously, at last year’s CMJ party, I was one of only a hundred or so folks who saw Foals kick ass. Now, if you wanted to see them, you’d be in some overcrowded midsize venue
Tickets for this show are a cheap $12 and all the money goes to the After the Jump Fest donorschoose.org fund which benefits music education at schools.
